Question? Jerry Stahl fabricated the headers for 67 ? And was still building them up to his closing up(this I know)
In 67,if you ordered a Z with headers ( and what 506 Z's produced in 67, sorry if the number wrong, off the top of my head). Hypothetically, if every Z was ordered with headers , 506 would be in the trunk. Is this surplus that's being sold off for 15,000 a pair???
And Jerry numbered them ,so what's the number ??
More in 68, but different vendor.(Kustom) AND replicas are out there for a fraction of the cost of Heartbeat's price.
Personally I think because of Jenkins running Hookers ( and advertising them), may have sealed the fate on what became popular under the hood on theses cars. When #1 owner picked up the Z in 68, Hooker Super Comps are what the dealer supplied...so the story goes. Add the Sun TAC and Hurst shifter(both alive and well)
Couple of years ago almost pulled the trigger on a set that had been coated. Debated on a pair Stahls, decided to stay with what's been with the car forever.
Just ticks me off to see the hugely inflated prices on some of these
rare (more then 10 available
) items. BTY ,that kind of cash can buy a 1000+hp Shafiroff racing engine, fresh off the dyno. With $$$ to spare. Throw in a bolt in Moser 9". With discs. Maybe I'm just a bit too much of a cynic for some of this.
