Great thread Jon,
I have one of the rear shocks off my T/G Firebird. It seems to have a GM part number, 9791594
with a date code of 4/67 (Must have been some old stock they had sitting around)
They are single adjustable of course with Koni number 80 1915 SP1
I will have a look at the front when I can dig it out.

Thanks, Bruce. That's very interesting that your car was using a shock meant for a '67. Did it also have the '67 style shock plate under the leaf springs?

I'm not sure Jon, I will have to acquaint my self with the different style shock plates. Or post a pic.

Bruce.

Bruce, the '67 style plate has a separate bolt that slides through two holes on either side of the shock and the '68-'69 multileaf plate has a single threaded stud (bolt) that is attached to the plate. The shock bottom slides over the stud and you tighten the nut down on it. If you still can't visualize what I'm trying to describe, I'll look for some pics.

Jon, My lower spring plates have a turned down 'ear' that the shock bolt passes through on the inner side (staggered shocks) The bolt is firmly in the lower shock hole and the nut is under the spring plate.
I will take a pic.
Bruce.

Looks like the 68-69 version of the sprint plate Jon.

I came across a pair of 1970 vintage Konis with part number 80-1217. I can’t locate this number in any vintage or modern Koni catalog I’ve been able to find. If anyone can assist I’d sure appreciate it!
