L78 Steve might have hit on the problem, maybe the picture I had up wasn't doing it justice, here is a just taken picture in the sunlight, I've also added it to the auction.  I hope this is better.

Regards,
Jerry K.

Jerry, Wow, what a difference, the first picture of the stamp on Ebay makes the leg of the 7 appear straight but NOW the 7 FONT Looks EXACTLY the Same as all posted and Correct. ORIGINAL IMO.

Good Luck with your auction.

I believe the alternator referenced in this thread to be real. I would like to point its probably best to find a used unrestored one (when possible ) and then have it restored. As been mentioned the batch dating is also and indicator, but once these alternators are restored it very difficult to tell because the restampers are perfecting the roll stamp characteristics now. Pictures can also be deceiving based on angle and lighting.

Regarding the 73Z28 alternator question that application is for the L82 (non solid lifter) engine and no longer required the deep groove pulley, and I believe that alternator # was a 934. I will check my data sheets for reference.

Randy,
Read Jerry's statement again.
> Is anyone stating that it is not real.  If so they need to go back to alternator school.

You didn't state that, so the statement wouldn't apply to you. :)

Hi Paul,

Thanks, went for a little less then I'd hoped, but that is how it goes sometimes.  Once the car is back together, sometime this decade, I'll be looking for another one.
