1969 SS striping

Two questions:  Did any '69 Camaro ever come from the factory with Rally (hood/decklid) stripes that was not a Z28 or Pacecar? Was it even an option for any of the other ones, for example an RS Camaro?  Secondly, is the striping in the attached photo a factory striping for any 69 Camaro?  This one was an early build. Thanks!

In '69, only Z10s, Z11s, and Z28s got the rally stripes.  The stripes in the above photo are not factory.

  I might be wrong but I thought that was the DX-1 stripping? IIRC it was used in late 69 as an option, but I thought only standard Camaro's could receive it not SS's.

Stripes shown ARE the DX1 stripe option - available 69 only.

Nope.

Camaro ordering info is explicit in that NO other striping could be ordered on Camaro SS. D90 striping was included with Camaro SS and in my 35 years I know of one SS built stripe delete.

Way back in the '80s [pre-internet, pre-cell phone] someone found a low-mile near perfect '69 Camaro convert with the DX-1 stripe. Reasoning that it would be worth more as an SS it was painstakingly "converted" while maintaining the OE paint for the most part. The car was passed off as original and paraded around shows on the east coast. It appears in John Hoopers' "1969 Camaro Reference Book" on page 115. Lots of people saw it getting the impression that DX-1 was an SS option. The die-cast seems to be created from this car.

Really rare is a ducted hood with DX-1. This is the real deal, ZL-1 #68.

I believe your referring to the orange 327-210hp powerglide car, that was cloned into a L89 4spd. I believe it had   4-7k miles. The person who originally did the car was upfront about it being a clone, but it morphed into being/sold as the real deal.  The owner tried to enter the car in our Vintage Certification program, but he was informed that the car was a clone and was quite upset. This occurred in 2004 at Carlisle. Last I heard the car was being sold at a bankruptcy auction. The car had a cowl hood added so the stripes looked ok, although incorrect on an SS or Z28.

Bill - I just came accross this old thread...can you post a pic of this stripe delete car and any other information you might be able to share (Pic of VIN & Cowl Tag maybe)?

Incidently, it wouldn't happen to be this one would it? Although I don't have any docs to support it, the last known owner said this was the case.

No excuses on this one. Not only was the car here in WI it belonged to one of CPXs' customers; I saw it several times. However by that time [early '90s'] it had been restored and painted. No data, no pix.

What I do have is a very bad copy of the shippers' copy. The first line is "SPECIAL PAINT." By the time this car was built [N646xxx VIN] black was an RPO color; it is not listed. The owner had spoken with the original owner and stated it was ordered stripe delete.

What a car! Triple black SS-RS, D80, L78, M22, 4.10s, U17, U79, ZL2. Listed for $4,600, a ton of money back then.

It has had a complete resotoration so I am not sure if it is original or it was changed after it was painted. It would be interesting IF it is authentic.
