Original Dealer License Frame
« on: October 25, 2010, 12:34:41 AM »
I have an original California black plate Camaro with its original dealer plate frames. The front one is broken with the bottom half missing.
Found one on Ebay..http://cgi.ebay.com/San-Francisco-Les-Vogel-Chevrolet-License-Plate-Frame-/190456745209
$60bucks...is that right??? I would think this is something I would want for a total resto. Is this over kill for a resto???
 Here's a photo link to dealership.   I think it's pretty cool.http://www.flickr.com/photos/autohistorian/3912515257/

Not over kill at all.  there are many people looking for their orig dealer tag brackets and emblems . Sounds like you got lucky

No...lucky would be if I actually had $60...LOL ;D
I re-read my post and I think I'm an original newbie( numbers matching). There's no such thing as resto over-kill.

I paid $20 each for new ones for my '69. The frames were actually 1971 vintage but the same as used in 1969 at this dealer.

And the dealer frames are a lot better than drilling holes or glue stains like many dealers were still doing back in the day! Unfortunately, some states are now outlawing the old frames because they cover too much of the plate, as in covering the state name.
Still way cool and a better idea.

20 bucks is more my speed...60???, I don't know. Guess it's all about condition. I always thought mine were white on black till I saw the one for sale. Now that I look there was some blue on them, imagine that. Guess I need to find/buy two.

You should buy it, you'll probably never see another one and you'll kick yourself for not having bought it. Speaking from experience. :-)
