Long time browser, first time post. I have a since new(family)X-55 car; Vin 9N648878, 05D build. It's everything I wanted since I can remember, ( born in '69).I have the POP and everything checks except the motor and rear-end. I never found the rear-end codes but the POP says BV0501G. My uncle(original owner) says the only option he ordered was the Z-27 and U-57, so the POP must have been a mis-stamp 'cause all I could find was that rear-end was special ordered and only for a four-speed. Not a big deal, I'm sure they meant BM. ( I'll find the true code later)
My real heart breakin' question is the motor, which at one time was rebuilt. The front pad has no stampings accept B U N K .
I shit you not.
The block is a 010 motor. I'm having trouble finding the build date cast, to help on the originality. Where is that?, for starters.
My NOR date of 05D seems to me that the partial VIN would be by the oil filter rough pad. I can't see any thing. If I ever find the partial Vin that matches it would still be a No. matching Camaro, right?, reguardless of the bullshit joker stamp.
Could the block been changed in a rebuild?? Is that a machine shop stamp for "don't use this block" ?? Thats what BUNK means to me...as in " hey, buddy, that acid you sold me was BUNK!"
Any help would be much appreciated
