Have you got a copy of the AIM [assembly instruction manual]? If not, get one. It's a most valuable resource of how things were put together.

Mine's fairly close to the drawing except for the inward bend, just below the '4' label. It's fairly straight at that point, then bends over past the rocker cover corner, heading rearwards and then angling further inboard to the carby.
The vertical rise from the pump is just low of center to the stamp pad and about 1/2" out from it with similar clearance to the block and rocker cover corner.
Mine could well be a bit out of shape and the drawing is more accurate to how they should be.
