1968 Fuel Line

I am looking for a picture of how the pump to carb fuel line should look on a '68 396/350hp motor with a Quadrajet.  I bought a fuel line from NPD and it seems like it is aligned too close to the block and valve cover.  Thanks in advance.

My 68 396/325 w/ smog has the orig line and it is JAMMED in btwn the block-cover & smog pump mounting bracket.
Amazing how tight it all is. Lots of contact. 80K mile LOS car Coded "MY"
Makes hooking up the carb a hassle and must start the threads while carb is not on studs to get the angle correct.
I have not adjusted the valves in a while but think the vlv-cover is a bear to get removed.
There must be some slack to tweak the line as needed to get things attached.

Have you got a copy of the AIM [assembly instruction manual]? If not, get one. It's a most valuable resource of how things were put together.

Mine's fairly close to the drawing except for the inward bend, just below the '4' label. It's fairly straight at that point, then bends over past the rocker cover corner, heading rearwards and then angling further inboard to the carby.
The vertical rise from the pump is just low of center to the stamp pad and about 1/2" out from it with similar clearance to the block and rocker cover corner.
Mine could well be a bit out of shape and the drawing is more accurate to how they should be.

Remember the line is also bent to clear AC brackets.
