Rob,
Thanks for the reply. I think the 67-68 bumpers are the same as the trunk and tail pan are the same, but there could have been a part number change.
Does anyone have a 67 or 68 P&A that could verify if the 4721222 part number is correct for 67.

My '69 P&A (effective 10-1-68) lists the 4721222 luggage lid bumper as correct for all first generation Camaros ('67-'69).

Wow...$124.50 for correct trunk bumpers, but this is the kind of detail needed if you are restoring a desirable numbers matching car, and striving for near perfect 1000 point car.

My P&A shows a price of 5 cents each back in '69!    :)

Well, I just purchased some from Vintage Parts.  They didn't know if the $20.15 price listed for 4721222 was for a package quantity (I believe 5) or each.  I ordered 2, so I may get 2 bumpers or 10 bumpers.  We'll see.

Looking for an effective date of 10-1-67 or earlier.
Thanks Paul.

That would be my guess that the 67 and 68 were the same and for whatever it seems that a lot of 69's had the smaller version. Was hoping one of our experts would chime in from past experience.  And as Bob mentioned the 4721222 parts book shows for all three years but there are differences. The fat one I pictured to the right I'm sure is a GM supplied bumper but it is a totally different shape except for the diameter.

I have seen both style bumpers on unrestored cars. This is not something I have looked at too closely, but will as the Vintage Certification Team. I just looked at three 69 examples, my 9B of 68 has the large bumpers, my 4C and 9A of 69 have the small rounded bumpers. Possibly it is build date related or just a supplier variation. I will be looking at my other cars and report back. We will be cerifying several unrestored/survivor cars at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago November20&21. One of our participants is a 68 Camaro SS L78 with 11K miles that is virtually untouched, another a LS6  Chevelle with just 4K miles and several others. Come join us at the  show, the website is mcacn.com or email me at vintagecert@optimum.net

It was a package of 5 when I bought them. I used 2, sold 2 and have 1 left.

Gary-
When did you buy them?
VP just contacted me and said that it was $20.15 EACH  :o , although they are on the shelf in bags of 5.  I tried to explain to them if they are in bags of 5 from GM then that is how they are sold.  They claim to have contacted GM to verify that they are sold individually.  I think someone doesn't have their story straight.  It seems like GM took a bunch of bulk bumpers and packaged them in bags of 5 for $20.15/bag to sell them off.

I'm still not 100% sure how many I will be getting, but it will be at least 2.

In case anyone is interested, I received my order from Vintage Parts today.  I ordered 2 x 4721222 and received 2 bumpers.  $20.15 each.  Ouch.

Jeff,

Are they the correct when compared to your original bumpers?

Yes, they are correct compared to my original trunk bumpers.

They are the ones with "4721222" molded into them.  Same as the picture that Chick posted earlier:
