Hello, I'm thinking about a new exhaust system for my 67 camaro, I want it as original as I can get it, It is a 67 camaro ss/rs 396 (3L 4N) (O2C) Built in Feb of 67 in Van Nuys Cal. the original system was gone when I got this car in 83
would this car have resonatores (2) and the transverse muffler (1)by the fuel tank ? or just the Muffler ?
what cars got what muffler combo?

All 67 Camaro SS had a single transverse muffler with 2 resonators as the standard system. There was an optional system N61 "Deep-tone dual exhaust" which I believe just eliminated the resonators.

N61 was the standard Z/28 system.

I'm restoring a '67 RS/SS 350.   I've installed an original type exhaust system.  The muffler sits between the rear end and the fuel tank.  Does this configuration cause any problems with heating (or over heating) the fuel tank and/or the fuel line as it leaves the fuel tank, especially in hot summer slow traffic, such as parades.  Should I consider installing heat shields and/or insulation?

  If the exhaust pipes are properly cut and bent, the muffler should clear the fuel tank strap by 1.65".  I've had my car in parades and never had an issue from the fuel tank being overheated by the exhaust. I suspect the tanks metal is acting like a heat sink and dissipating the heat quickly. I'm sure much of the radiant heat from the muffler is being pushed out the rear due to the wind from the fan blades as it travels under the car.
