68 350 SS Fan application

A little help needed. I am missing the fan and clutch for a 1968 350 SS with AC.

I have come across 2 that are available; both sellers claim the same application  as well as claiming part # 3789562 but vary substantially in price. They look the same to me in pictures except one has 5 rivets and the other 4. I have attached a picture of both. The one pictured in the CRG report has 4 rivets as well. Did the rivet count vary?

Does anyone know which fan is correct for my application?

Were part #s stamped on the fans that can be used as verification?

The correct fan for that car is #3931002 and I believe the clutch fan is 5389475.  The number is stamped on the fan blade along with the date code (ex: G68   =July 1968)

Yes - A/C cars used the 7 blade 1002

I've definitely seen both 562 and 1002 fans on 68 AC cars.

The 5 blade fans I have taken off 68 full size cars had 4 flat rivets.

Actually that's right. The 1002 fan had limited usage on the Camaros.
I wonder why? They were VERY common on the big cars - Chevelle and Impala.

Why would GM choose to use a 5 blade on A/C Camaros, yet go with a 7 blade on other models?

In researching my car and others on ebay, it looks like the 68 camaro with the base 327/210hp AC cars used the 1002 7 blade fan but came with the 21" smaller radiator.  The other Camaro AC cars appeared to use the 23" larger radiator but I have not researched those fan applications.  Wondering if the smaller radiator usage in these cars was offset by the 7 blade fan.

Thanks for the support. I have found that the 4 rivets are the ones I see on 68s. I also found it interesting that in my original service manual it shows a photograph of a five rivet setup. That threw in a bit of second guessing for me.

It appears that there is still no consensus or resolution to when and why the 1002, 7 blade fans were used. I found a June date stamped 7 blade fan for 68. Does anyone know when the date stamps and part #s began on fans? My build was 07D and I am currently planning on using this fan. Any thoughts on this?
