Road Noise

I had my 67 restored a couple years ago.  During the process, it was put on a rotisserie and all of the undercoating was stripped.  When I replaced the carpet on the inside, I left the original noise dampener in place and installed the new carpet over it.  I also replaced the radial tires with the original 4-ply bias tires.  The problem is that now I get a lot of road noise inside the car; not nearly as good as when the undercoating was installed and also had radial tires.  I've read the thread on undercoating and it was applied originally by the dealership.  In lieu of having it reapplied, is there a good solution out there to eliminate the noise while keeping it as original as possible?  Anyone know if this was as evident on those that didn't have undercoating applied?

Dyno-matt which is a noise suppressor will help. Goes under your carpet and cannot be seen, it's not original though. Undercoating will help. Other than those I don't know what to suggest.

$400 for Dynamat cut for F Body.  Ouch!  Must be really good stuff.

 I put Dynamat in my 03 Jeep Wrangler and it did make a huge difference in sound and heat in the floors. You can buy rolls of it not pre-cut and it is a lot less expensive. When I did my Jeep it was like $29.00 a roll and it took 3 rolls, it cuts with sharp sheers or scissors.

Sounds like the rolls are the way to go.  Everyone says to take your time when installing it also.  Where can you get the rolls?  Do they come only by 18" x 32"?

 I picked up the rolls from Summit Racing. I did my Jeep about 4 years ago so the price has probably gone up, but it does work well. If you put it in on a hot day you can lay it out in the sun and it will kind of soften up. Then whey you lay the roll where you want it you can kind of bend it into the shape you need and mark it with a Sharpie then take it out the cut and trim. In my Jeep with removing the seats, carpet and console and putting it all back together it took a good 6 or 7 hours going slow and easy. 18X32 is the only size I seen when I bought mine.

I've become a firm believer in you get what you pay for.  But I don't want to get ripped off either.  Has anyone else used other products to elimate noise?

I used dyna mat in my 69 convertible and it is quiet quiet quiet. Good stuff.

I've heard good things about the quality of the products from www.quietride.com  It's precut Dynamat and the installations I've seen look awesome.

Has anyone had any experience with the Quiet Ride kits?  They look like they would do a nice job and not pricy.  Also, how was the installation of the Dyna Mat in your 69?  Messy?  Easy?

I chose Hushmat for mine. It installs a little easier, since it will stick to almost anything. It is also not as heavy, so I was not adding as much weight to the car. It does not require the prep that you need to with the other systems. If there is a surface in my cart that you can not see, it will have Hush Mat on it when it is done.

 Just watch the video. I chose it at first to replace the stuff GM used to line the Roof, when I replaced that pannel. It has not fallen off yet, and it had been really hot this summer.
