I ended up sandblasting everything and used POR 15 chassis paint for the subframe and A arms.  They turned out amazing, hard as powdercoat but flowed out like paint.  Perfect.  I used Por 15 under the car, firewall, interior and trunk since my car had set outside for 17 years, no rot but I wanted to convert any rust I could not get with the sandblaster.  The car looks new.  I posted pics under the Z10 section.

Epoxy primer is the only way to go for a base primer. Every piece of metal I paint gets epoxy first, engine blocks, oil pans ,radiators, fenders, ect... I also put all the fillers over it,when fresh without scuffing. DP is not the  best anymore, SPI brand is way better. Dp is more of a sealer then a true epoxy.  John

Have you ever used the Por 15?  wondering how it compares to the epoxy primers.  Everything I used the Por on is solid as a rock, I used the lower sheen chassis black over the shinier primer stuff.  Do you put the epoxy primer straight on the bare metal or use an etching primer on the body panels first?
