67 & 68 BumbleBee Stripe

I have been looking for 68 Bumble Bee stripe information off and on for several years. People always refer me back to the available stencils, but the stencils are WRONG, at least partially. I have found pictures of my 68 SS350, 11E build norwood built car from when it was new. The picture show the pinstripes on the front and rear of the stripe connecting under the 350 emblem, like they do in the AIM manual. This is contrary to stencils. I am still trying to figure a way to post a picture, because it takes a magnifying glass to see it in the old photos. Does anyone else have a original paint bumblebee stripe car? If so, what does it look like in the area below the emblem, and when and where was it built?

i thought 68s had the hockey stripe? my my wifes 1st week jan built 68 has the hockey stripe not the bumble bee

Early 1968 production used the 1967 "Bumble Bee" stripe (RPO D91). Then, staring the first week of January, 1968, they went to the "Hockey Stripes" (RPO D90). The D91 "Bumble Bee" stripe continued as an RPO on all cars EXCEPT SS for the duration of the 1968 model year.

The 67 has the bumble bee stripe.  The 68 has the hockey stripe.

No, that date is for the 69 model year and the bumble bee stipe wasn't used in 69.

Unless you made a typo and actually meant December of 1967 (for the 1968 model year), then the D91 Bumble Bee stripe was standard on the SS models and optional on all others (except Z28). After January 2nd, 1968, D91 was only available on NON SS cars as an RPO and SS cars got the D90 Hockey Stripes (again, Z28 excluded).

Hi Guys,
I've been trying to find out more about the early 68 D91 stripe to see if it's different to the standard D91 and if I read barraza's question correctly, he's asking the same question and not Bumble Bee vs. Hockey stripe.

In the 68 Factory Assembly manual, Pg 238, the lower part of the bumble stripe clearly shows the thin outer line wrapping around the thick center part of the stripe, UNDER the ci emblem.
My SS/RS is build Nov 67 and judging by the book, should have this stripe but I've not seen it anywhere except on 1 other car.
Does anyone have an original 68 SS (built in 1967) with original bumble bee stripe please?

Does anyone know the build date of the 68 BB conv. Pace car that is at Talladega Hall of Fame? It has the BB stripe but it is not boxed in below the 396 emblem as shown in previous reply #9.

I know I have seen it before, but that is a neat detail and I would love to see some original cars with the stripe.

From a design standpoint and in my opinion the underscored stripe looks incomplete and lacks consistency. I also do not like the longer, earlier version of the stripe. Viewed from any angle except perpendicular to the car's side, it appears awkward. The short stripe follows the contour of the fender which appears consistent.

Is it possible that on a '68 the D91 for pre-Jan 68 WAS slightly different?
AIM shows D91 outer stripe joining and if barraza has pictures of his Dad's car with this, perhaps it was that way for early 68's?
Does anyone have anything conclusive from an original pre Jan 68 SS?

Later 68's SS have "mustache" stripes and the 69SS's have "hockey" stripes.
