Original '69 tail pipes
« on: March 01, 2010, 02:27:11 AM »
Does anyone have pictures of original '69 tail pipes? I would like to see them on a car from side shot and maybe off the car too. The repros seem to be bent wrong. They angle down slightly when they have proper clearance for the rear bracket to frame and I can't get the .625" measurement to the rear body valence with the pipes level. Any help would be appreciated. They also may be a bit too long and stick out too far.

The exhaust system is one of the few things on my '69 Z/28 that isn't orginal; the previous (original) owner had it replaced about 20 years ago with a stainless system, but the tailipipes appear to be pretty close to the original configuration - photo below.

Not any longer. Ask Pacecarjeff. I just want to get my tailpipes tweaked to sit level, not buy a new set.

The right side is worse than the left, but you can see they angle down. I can't get it higher because the rear bracket gets too close to the frame.

Can I get pics too?  Do they go straight out and level?  The set on my car (from Ricks) goes to the sides a little.

I had that same problem with the tailpipes I got from HBC. They just could neot get it right 2 times. I used the D&R pipes and they look very close to Kevin's pictures. They are supposed to go straight out and level. I need to tweak mine a little.

Thanks L78 steve.

Back in 2005 I installed a stainless exhaust system from the Stainless Works; purchased through Summit Racing.  I've been pleased witht he fit.  The last section of both tailpipes  are chromed, not original, but a very nice look.
