What Are These Here For?
« on: December 22, 2009, 04:45:48 AM »
Underneath the headlamp and wiper switches of a 69 instrument carrier are two notches with corresponding holes in the dash bracket.
I had a good look though the AIM and couldn't see what they may have been used for. I thought maybe the V75 liquid tire chain switch, but that's installed into the column cover.

Any ideas?

(Please note that the picture I have included as an example has the radio plate above these holes because I am performing a left to right steering conversion and have swapped the two plates. :P)

Can't see the pictures from work (blocked) but they could be for the speed warning adjustment knob. or for the grounding connection thats behind the windsheild wiper switch.

Going from memory (uh-oh), I think Mark got both of them.

Thanks guys.  :)

Yes, I can see in U15-A1 that, it is the speed warning device which appears to use only one of the notches for the mounting bolt and the adjustment knob is on the device's bracket. Thank you!  ;D

However, the headlamp grounding connection UPC12-B2 is sandwiched between the instrument carrier's mounting screw and the ground wire is screwed into the dash bracket, so it doesn't use them.

Maybe the second notch and hole is a provision for an accessory that wasn't required..

You made me go out to the garage and look.  My outer one (left most) has the under dash light screwed into it.  Convertible only feature.
