1967 LOW FUEL MODULE ? CAN ONE BE REPAIRED ?
« on: December 05, 2009, 11:41:06 PM »
my 1967 RS low fuel light stopped working about 7 or 8 year's ago it is something wrong with the low fuel module unit in the back of the console gauges , this part is like $60 buck's plus shipping and I will be honest THAT IS INSANE !
I can't bring myself to buy the part so I am asking WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY ORIGINAL ONE ? and can it be repaired ? I have took the gauge pod off and looked at it you can put 12 volt on the wire going to the dash low fuel light and it come's on so the wire to the bulb is good , what can I do ?

Do you have a good ground @ the module? How about the connections @ the gauge (green & pink) ?
If all are good, you may have to bite the bullet, as I do not think the module is repairable.

I've just learned that the fuel module has a FUSE ? or BULB ? in the back of it ? I am going to check that

Brad,
Never had a bad module to back door engineer to see what is inside.
Let us know what you find.

As it turned out, the only problem I had was the low fuel module bulb. I did not know that the bulb in the socket served any purpose for the low fuel module.

With the ignition switch on and the Low Fuel light on, I pulled the bulb out of the socket and the ligt went out. I put the bulb back in the socket and the light came on. The bulb does not illuminate, but acts like a connection, I guess.

Can someone explain why GM used a bulb in this module? Or is this just look like a bulb and is not or what?

this guy say's the BULB/FUSE has to be in place for the light to work ?
