1967 CRUISE CONTROL
« on: August 05, 2009, 08:29:00 PM »
Is there any diagrams on the 67 cruise control unit and how it is hooked up to the carb? Also any info on how it is operated? How was it set by the driver and so on. ???

Ron -

67 and 68 essentially used the same system. Minor changes exist with brackets, wiring and system release designs depending on if you are looking at a factory or dealer installed system in either year.

The Cruise was operated through a vacuum servo mounted to the firewall that hooked up to the throttle arm, not directly to the carb. It was accuated by a button located on the end of the turn signal knob on the steering column. I have seen two designs for this. I may be able to confirm which is correct for 67 but will need a few days if you need to know.

Illustartions are available in the Assembly manual under UPC K30 in 67. I only have documentation for 1968. I am not positive as to what the differences were between the two years as I have not inspected a true factory 67 K30 in person. However, the two major components that make up this system (the servo and regulator) are the same.

That would be great. The more systems I see the better the documentation will be. I can help you dentify it as factory or dealer installed if you do purchase it. There were only just over 600 factory systems installed in 67/68 combined and the system was discontinued for 69.

Parts are scarce. Swap meets and ebay only for the most part. Service parts were available thru GM until around the late nineties but not since. It is a very rare option and difficult to find parts for. The only service parts that are common is the fitler and turn signal knob as they tend to break. I discuss that is another thread. do a search for Speed and cruise control and read through a few. Let me know if I can help...

This one has a few pix of the system to get you started.

Good luck with the purchase.
