Camaros were a part of the biggest seller list until they started selling the charity cars on Saturday. 
It looks like the value increases of 2008 are holding so far.

There were two Camaros at B-J that went well under the money. A '68 SS-RS L78 convert with CDN docs and a CE block for $58,000; a 69 COPO automatic [10-10, X11, endura, protect-o-plate, OE drivetrain, well done] for $97,000! Then a bit later a '69 resto-mod [572, 6-speed, 9"] goes for $105,000! Go figure. Other resto-mod cars, a solid axle Corvette and a 55 Nomad, sold for strong prices also. Maybe I have seen the future.

As for the Z/28s don't conclude anything. As JM stated the correctness and quality of the cars here varied widely and I have learned a lesson about getting specific on these forums. I will say there are more cross-rams here this weekend than anywhere else on earth. One of them sold for $62,000; the orange Z/28 for $75,000 was cross-ram delete I guess. BTW the ZL-1 for $319,000 was disclosed as a re-body.

As if we didn't get enough we went to the Pavillions Cruise Saturday night. Have to be there to believe it-easily 500-600 cars and another cross-ram Z/28. It bears repeating-the weather here is outstanding. Unfortunately for me back to WI in an hour or so.

Can someone explain what really happened with the green ZL-1 of Reggie Jackson's? After hawking the car on stage didn't he climb down and bid on the car? It also appeared as though the back bidder walked away after seeing who he was bidding against. SO, who actually bought the car? I don't think they showed anyone signing for it.  I think I remember this car from a few years ago at around $800,000, is that right? And what's up with "rebodying" cars now? At least the Yenco Nova was rebodied, sounds like a clone to me. I have a VW I'd like to rebody as a Porsche.

We went over to Russo-Steele [10 min drive] and checked out a JL-8 cross-ram Z/28; Le Mans blue very well done car. Hearing it run with chambered and probably the 140 cam was worth the price of admission. It did sell;

They have the blue RS JL8 crossram car listed as sold at $198K.  There are a couple more JL8 cars that are listed as sold (one for $187K) but I wonder if it was really sold or just a high bid.  It seems the buyers are still willing to pay for good original cars with paperwork.

My bad, I just noticed on the R&S site that those were results from previous auctions even though they were mixed in with the Scottsdale 2009 stuff.  So I'm not sure what the blue car was bid up to or sold for.

Thanks John Z, I missed that part. Was he was selling it for the owner? Why else would he have been on stage?

The SPEED announcers later explained that he was representing the seller.  They said when the bids went low, he decided to go to the floor and tried to buy it (once again) for himself.   

I also found it interesting near the end of Sunday's SPEED coverage, one of them said that muscle car prices did not fair as well as in the past.

For most of us the real test on current value will come in the Spring when cars begin to sell at places like the Charlotte Autofair.

  I'm sure you're correct about the ego-thing. But if you're filthy rich, albeit devoid of some grey matter, where else could you find such an easy opportunity to get yourself a few moments of face time (fame) on national TV where many gear heads are most certianly going to be watching and in awe?
  It may involve spending a ton more to get a car that matches you jacket color or your escort's dress, or buying a cloned or rebodied car that has obvious issues that you choose obviously to ignore in order to fufil your egotistical needs - but for the purposes of letting the car-world know that you have arrived with big $$'s to with whatever the Hell you want, logic or common sense be damned, there is propably no better prime time venue today.
  Anyone note the sale of the Chrysler sports car (Prowler ?) near the end of the auction that silenced the commentators by going for, I think $60+g's when even they said a typical version in better economic times would normally have traded in the mid $20's? Brings me to the phrase - A fool and his money are soon parted! But Hey, the purchaser got some face time with his blonde friend who laid a lip lock on him on TV after the deal was done so I guess it worked for him for a few intimate TV seconds.
   I see BJ as the Las Vegas-thing where you chose your game, you're companionship, and your venue, to demonstrate your disregard for wealth in order to be able to show to the world that you are just that much better than others.
   How many of us 'regular people' just sit back and watch the whole BJ deal and laugh at some of the stupidity as it's turned into a real circus - what's next, mud wrestling and ultimate fighting demos in Tent #4?
   As you have alluded, if I had money those monkeys seen up on stage berating the bidders to ante up more to help them line their pockets when they feel the bidding is too slow or low for their liking, would be the last ones to get a piece of it. - Randy

Actually I saw what looked like some good deals, but they were in the first day or two of the auction. Not as fancy, but looked like good deals from my end of the tube. If I was headed out there, I would probably be home by Friday.

Had a nice visit with the YY owner out of Salt Lake & he had a JM cert, his sold on Fri afternoon. 40k+?

My first trip to the circus, BJ-R/S-Siver, &(pavillions) I had a wonderful time and would reccomend it!
Did not even purchase a t-shirt, concidered it a break for the sun and veiwing MANY nice cars.

It is very confusing to the owner and restorer, think values and restoration examples.

Everyone nowadays is looking for a deal. This is what I think the deal is and this is my opinion and I had plenty of friends out in the desert for the whole shebang.    I am sure U can get a very nice number 2 driver car for plenty less lets say 30 to 40 grand Z28 maybe original motor or maybe a CORRECT z28 motor, but the number 1- and number 1 cars that are nut and bolt frame off cars that are very correct and very gorgeous that U would not even drive but trailer to shows are still worth strong money and U will be hard to find a 40grand Z that is this maybe U can but it will be hard and U will be lucky.     I paid 65 grand for my car last year and I am not afraid to tell people that because I have no plans on selling it and did not buy to sell it. My car was a very nice number 1 car and a very rare color combination with great options and I felt good about it and could not build the car for that price.  The only problem I have now is that I love the car but do not drive it much because it has no miles on it and it is very correct with natural finishes etc.                                                I would love to buy a driver quality 69 Z for a reasonable price but because there is no such thing as a reasonable price for a Z that is why good ones brong strong money along with the SS 396 cars as well even now.      All in all I feel very good and comfy with my money in all my cars and have seen the market for cars survive the economy downs over the decades .    The desert preformed well , it did not explode like it did a fews years back and it did not crash like some people thought or maybe hoped it would.        Thanks for the CRG site love it and all the members.
