 Anybody watching the auction? A few Camaros went through today but the nice ones are coming on Friday and Saturday. Just wondering how the cars are reacting to this economy. Any comments?

I was just there and spent quite a bit of time checking out the original owner '69 Z/28 that went through this afternoon. There was always a crowd around it, many people giving it a long look. It has a few issues and still sold for $60,000. We went over to Russo-Steele [10 min drive] and checked out a JL-8 cross-ram Z/28; Le Mans blue very well done car. Hearing it run with chambered and probably the 140 cam was worth the price of admission. It did sell; don't know the numbers but I'm sure they are on the site. There are a lot of Camaros at both venues. My impression is that 1st gen Camaros remain strong.

These are awsome events; it was clear skies and 80 today. Back for more B-J tomorrow!

Did anyone else catch the comments regarding Lot #988 that crossed the block on Friday night?  It was a rallye green, SS396 X66 car with an argent grill.  I'm not usually alarmed by the typical factual misstatements made during the broadcast but as I was out of the room freshening my glass of Jack Daniels', the commentator, Steve Magnante (a personal acquaintance), was making a point of explaining why this car had an argent grill instead of a black grill.  I missed hearing everything except the final statement or two and spent the rest of the night pondering the whole point.  The car certainly wasn't a Tuxedo Black that normally received the argent SS grill and the extensive restoration on the car would have precluded a simple mistake.  That grill had to have been thought by someone to be the correct part.  Interested to know if anyone else heard the explanation?

That car was also missing the SS emblem on the fenders.  Was that a mistake, or an option not to have them??  The car still sold for $82, 500.

If it was SS X66, then it should have a black grille.  Believe me, many of the Camaros that go through that auction are not "right on the money",

Heard the Preston & Lawrence Yenko Camaro did $270K.  Is that correct?  Neat car with original paint but no race history or world championship titles to speak of.

They have the blue RS JL8 crossram car listed as sold at $198K.  There are a couple more JL8 cars that are listed as sold (one for $187K) but I wonder if it was really sold or just a high bid.  It seems the buyers are still willing to pay for good original cars with paperwork.

I  watched the BJ auction and looks like all the Z28 cars all settled in the 60 to 80000 range (for non cross ram cars) and the 80 to 100000 (for the cross ram and JL8 cars).   It looks like the collector car market is just fine by looking at what all thecars were doing as I hoped it would see.  Seams like the very very high end cars like the 429 Boss  and Hemi cudas settled in the 150 to 185000 range where they were 250 to 300 a few years ago.   I like seeing evrything bringing strong money and not overinflated values . This is very healthy for the hobby I had a feeling we would not see things tank so to speak. Also a note all the very nice Boss 302 cars were doing very well.   100000 for a 1969 and 135000 for a over restored (to say) yellow 1970 version on Fridays auctions.            Not to many Mopars BJ  I think many mopar collectors are just holding onto there cars right now as they have seen the biggest drop.                 I AM KEEPING MY 1969 Z28!!and did not buy it to sell it     Did anyone watch and know what the other auction were like and the results in general before I start looking up results??
