1968 Horns
« on: December 03, 2008, 11:11:25 PM »
Does anyone have good photos of how the horns are mounted on both a 68 standard and r/s car? Closeup pictures would be helpful. The assembly manual is not to clear. Thanks in advance, Cory

Did you ever get a conclusive answer, I'm presently changing an RS back to a standard grill on a 68, and I had the same question, as the book doesn' t have very good pics, and its not 100% clear whether its referring to a RS. Shows mounted on center bracket and also on the drivers side radiator support?

RS mounts on the center support, non RS mounts on the drivers side of radiator support.  Horns, and attached mounting brackets, are the same for both installations.  Assembly manual shows correct mounting method for both setups.

Are '68 horns mounted the same as '67? If so I can send pics from a '67 RS/SS survivor.

67 & 8 used the same horns for RS as far as I know.

This is where they were on my car. I can't verify that this is the factory location, though. I had my front end apart many years ago and could not say now if the horns were put back correctly. My location differs from the photo posted by cook_dw. Maybe someone could tell me if mine were in the wrong place.

According to the 68 factory assembly manual UPC 12 A8 - main shot shows the upper horn (low) & then the view B is the lower horn (high ).  Also the photo I showed of the standard headlight is an original unrestored car.
