Please see picture of my 327 - question on originality

I've got a 327/210, and I'm bringing it back to original. 

Notice the color of the engine block.  I plan to paint this back to the original orange but I'd be open to any feedback on what else may need to be done.

The alternator is incorrect, which may be the cause of my blown fuses.  I've purchased the correct alternator (amp rating) and will reinstall. 

Notice the chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner.  Are these supposed to be orange, black - or another color?  I can't seem to find the correct non-chrome valve covers, which makes me think they were chrome from factory?

Is the air cleaner supposed to be the black snorcle-type?

Thanks for your assistance. 

I've got a beauty - 36k original, documented miles, all driven in CA except for last 2k!

I'm not sure about most of your questions, however I no that the orange Ford Caution sticker on your fan shroud is incorrect.

the 327 came witha single-snorkel, closed element air cleaner. the steel valve covers were painted orange. the 350ci used chrome valve covers.  the carb was 2 barrel rochester.

When you say you want to "bring it back to original" that probably means different things to many of us.  Can you be a little more specific in what you're wanting to accomplish?  Did you say what year the car is?  I may have missed that but some basic info would help.  Manual or automatic?  3/4 speed?  Power steering?  For instance, you no doubt already know the rad cap and plug wires are not original just from their appearance but we are not able to help you with thing like the carb without numbers.  Are you going to add smog equipment if 67-69?  Take more pictures from different angles and post them.

Although you didn't state it, since the oil fill tube is in the front of the intake, this isn't a 69.

Attached to this e-mail is a pic of the correct 327 - 210 HP engine for a 69.  I will post 3 additional pics in seperate posts to follow.  The engine pictured is the correct engine for my 69 RS, which I installed last summer.  My car has a PowerGlide, so it also has the heat tube / snorkel assembly to the air cleaner EFE (early fuel evaporative) system.  To the best of my knowledge, 3 spd manual cars did not have EFE.

I think that in '68, the air cleaner was turned in the opposite direction, with the snorkel pointing toward the driver side.  I have what I believe is a '68 air cleaner and it is oriented that way.  Never confirmed it though once I realized it was not the correct air cleaner for my car.

Pic #3, Transmission mounted.  Note valve covers are not the ones in pics #1 and #2.  They are spares that were used during the engine installation.  Restored valve covers mounted later after engine and transmission were installed.

67 327 had orange covers w/o holes in them had oil filler in front of the intake alt above the pwr steering pump no air heater on the blk air can

I thought the 1967 small block low HP. Camaro's had the Chevrolet script on the valve covers. Only Camaro to have this. 1968 and later had plain valve covers. Is this correct?

Hey Rich,
Very nice detail on the motor, looks like a nice install. One question why go through so much work getting the motor spot on, but then run Z/28 stripes on the car? I am not trying to insult you just curious since the engine compartment looks so factory correct. thanks
