68 camaro ?

hey I have a 68 camaro with  a vin of 124378N303675 it has rs badging no motor  no transmisson  12 bolt rear end  has special valve under drivers door the core lines are small block 4 speed car black ext  red int the guy i bought it from says the people that had it pulled the big block out and put a70s 350 in it how can i tell if this is true and what small blocks did they put with 12 bolt it was built the last week in august of 68 any help would be great thanks

I will add that Brian's other post mentioned that 'no disc all drumbrake'.

I take it you mean the heater core is small block? Are the engine mounts SB or BB?

If the car was a factory BB or 350 car it would also have to be an SS car, with the SS badges on it. Also, the heater hoses would be in the middle of the heater box with a BB, not next to the engine like a small-block. The special valve sounds like the RS headlight actuator? 12-bolts were used starting with the 327/275hp 4-speed cars acccording to my GM book. Sounds like you may have a 327/275hp RS 4-speed car, which were relatively rare in and of themselves. That is...if the 12-bolt is factory.

 I believe he's referring to the proportioning valve located on the frame.
