From everything I know, that is the original distributor from my 06A 69 SS. Now I am confused as to why I have it.

The number is not readable, there is too much corosion and pitting to make out any numbers or letters after the 5 - even the last digit of the part # is hard to make out

Chris, a 1969 SS 350 should have a 1111488 (manual trans) or a 1111489 (automatic trans).

Those are the numbers I have been looking for- specifically the 489. I was confused as to why I have the other distributor. It was assumed to be the original when I switched to HEI back in the 90's. I have no paperwork that indicates any previous replacement. ( I have almost every reciept for repairs dating back to the mid 70's)

488's seem to be harder to find. I suppose less manual trans cars.

Distributors follow the motor build date, could be a gap between the motor build date and the car build date and you could end up with a distributor built before the the motor was built.

Sorry Chris, I ment to type you could end up with a distributor built AFTER your motor was built.
My motor was built in March, the trans in April, then the car in may.

Nope The distributor was installed at the engine assembly plant when the engine was built. The distributor must be dated before the engine build date.
