68 bumper jack

I searched but couldn't find a CRG topic on bumper jacks.  Is there a reference somewhere to what jack I should have for my car 05D 68 Z?  Thanks.

Search the whole forum for JACK, there's quite a few threads, but no crisp answer.  I've asked this same question before for my 12D car.  Lot of info on 67 & 69 jacks though......

I kept hoping that Ed was going to come up with the definitive answer.  My car is a 12D NOR, but I know my jack is a replacement.  Here's at least three 68s who would like to know...

Well... Jacks are kind of hard to pin down. If I remember correctly, there was more than one supplier, which means more than one version! I believe they're all the same size (32.5"), but I'm not sure about the design. Square masts, triangular masts... etc...

I just don't have the information required to answer this one guys. Sorry. Maybe Kurt of John or one of the other guys can add more to this.

As far as I know it's original to the car. It was in the truck when I bought it...

My car is a 05D Los Angeles built 1968 Convertible.

Here's mine, dated "8E".

Ed, where do you find your date code?  Was it on ths mast or the rivet?

I just took a look at my jack...

- No date code on the rivet.     
- The mast is dated 8 1  (or 1 8 if your reading it with the jack upside down).
- Mast length = 32-5/32" long.
- Mast is square  (yours looks like a trapezoid)     
- No stampings, etc. on the jack base  (just gray paint)
- 02C Los Angeles car

Paul, you can see the "8" in the picture but the "E" is very faint. Yes, mine is trapezoidal, and like your base, mine also has no stampings.

Paul, does your base plate look like Ed's or is it smaller and square too?  Does your jack resemble his?  Also, What's the date on you jacking instruction sticker?  Asking because your car build is closer to mine!

My jack base looks different than Ed's...

- Jack mast hole is square  (approximately 30mm x 30mm).
- Dimensions are approximately 6.5" x 7.5" at the corners  (widest points).
- Various holes in base are shaped differently + my base has one additional hole.
- Mine is not rusted!!

Thanks Ed!  That's why I asked, I could see the "8" clearly, but on my end there is no sign of the "E".
