Is this a real Z?
« on: March 04, 2008, 03:43:01 AM »
I'm thinking on bidding on this car. I just sold my RS/SS 350 survivor car and looking for a Z. Does this look to be the real deal?

Ask the seller if the comfort grip wheel is original, and maybe about the fan sticker on the radiator shroud. Might give you some insight to the level of honesty. neither came with the car.

Somebody put a lot of effort in it to make it "pretty", but the list of wrong, incorrect, and missing parts is endless, not to mention the lack of numbers, pad photos, date stampings, etc.

John is right...  it is "pretty"...
If you want a real black 69 RS/Z I know of a Vintage certified 45k mile original paint survior for sale.

I do know that there are alot of incorrect things about the car. I really don't care how correct the car is, mainly I'm looking for a driver and a real Z but correct would be nice. I'm just like everyone, looking for the most bang for my buck.

Is that brown "sealant" on the trim tag rivets correct, or has that been re done?

That looks correct... all I have seen are the offwhite colored.

Why would the paint code be special? Couldn't it be ordered 10 E, that is, black with white vinyl top?

Hold on Danny. The right car will come along. Be patient and do not make a quick decision with all that money burning a hole in your pocket!! :) My buddy has a 69 Z, dusk blue, original motor, trans and rear and original sheetmetal. Also has an original broadcast sheet. Car is beautiful. We will talk about the details over the next couple of days. I know of a couple others.

With the - - paint code, I would assume black in not the original color of the car.

- - paint would be something not covered bt the standard codes. Could be stripe delete, special stripe color, special body color. Some before pictures might give a clue.

Clint...I am looking forward to talking soon. I'm not going to make a quick decision. I'll be patient just as I was when I bought the 396 car from you.
