The exterior has been painted in spots for certain. I just don't know how much is original yet? It needs paint!

Car looks fairly un-molested... I would not do too much to it until I got some more opinions on it... the engine bay looks nice... wrong Mastercylinder. Got the smog with it... WOW...
I would say that the car has the original stripes for sure... mostly orignal paint probably.. and cowl hood to boot!!!

The carpet is original and is good enough if I can get the musty smell out of it? The pans underneath have alot of overspray.

I think thats about it for now. The cowl hood had pins installed  :-[  It does have a pierced hole and grommet above the fuse block on the firewall so I dont know if I'll be changing to a flat hood or not?  I hope I didn't use up too much space  :-\

I took the carpet outside on a sunny day, washed it, and let it dry in the sun.
That car is nice... I would love to have that as a starting point...  great color combo... you should be able to find an engine close to your build date. Looks to be a factory Cowl Induction car, which in itself is pretty rare.
TAKE LOTS OF PICS!!!! and go slowly...

... wrong Mastercylinder.

I noticed that too.....because my Pace Car has the same one. :-\

Neat car - what did you find in the internals of your engine?  All 302 goodies or something else?  Original heads do you think?

It does appear to have all the 302 internals and does have the 1178 crank. We just truned it over and did some measurements and it seems like it's floating with the right lift etc. The engine had aluminum angle plug heads on it when found. It has 041 March dated heads that came with it along with a 381717 finned balancer. The only things I've found missing entirely are the master and correct Hurst shifter. I'm glad you guys like it so far. I was somewhat scared of an X77 with no tac, gauges, or console but I do like the colors and overall integrity of whats there to work from. Also it has a 8263701 C 23 water pump and I think the original radiator.

I'm going to get a few more photos this weekend including the radiator tag and codes. It's been tough since I'm getting the data second hand. So the 041 heads are not going to work either? They are 2.02 and dated right. I'll check the balancer #'s that are on the crank now to see what it is. Maybe this loose one is something different as I also picked up a bunch of hi-po blocks, cranks, rods, heads etc. in this deal. Another question I have is what the correct Hurst shifter will be for non console? Will it still be the off set version?

Unless 041 heads have been found on DZ engines. Most have 186 heads.

The shifters come up on ebay all the time... around 400 or so. 186's are easy to find as well.

Pat,
There was only one shifter - didn't vary console or non-console.
