« on: February 10, 2008, 10:00:10 PM »
im having a little trouble getting the ignition lock out of the column. the column is out of a 1969 firebird orignnally. i have everthing out of the way. i removed the signnal switch and everything. this column has the threaded hole for retaining pin but it doesn't go all the way down and there was no pin. also i don't have a key for it but the lock is broken and i can turn it from lock to run without the key. any ideas, you guys have always be great

Insert screwdriver or similar tool into the slot in the housing.  Depress the spring latch at the lower end of the cylinder.  With the latch depressed, remove cylinder from housing.

Inside under the turn signal switch.   Look near the end of the cylinder.

For a picture of the exact location, see page 9-10 in your 1969 Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual.     :)
