Hurst backup switch/
« on: January 30, 2008, 10:43:38 PM »
Hey guys,
I know Hurst makes an after market backup switch, but I'm confused as to exactly where it goes on the trans. And how to wire it up.. anybody have any pics or advice. atHeartbeat city has the switch. Since I have headers I probably need to use that switch, but have not a clue how to activate or hook it up.. Any Ideas.. thanks  D

The Hurst switch mounts on a flat plate the bolts on the back of the shifter using the stop adjustment bolt. You can also use the reverse switch for a 67-68 that bolts to the side cover of the trans and uses a rod to connect to the reverse trans arm.
here is a picture of the Hurst switch and plate and instruction sheet.
The switch pictured is an old metal one
the modern switch looks a little different

This is the backup light switch arrangement on a '67 Corvette - very similar to the '67-'68 Camaro setup; switch attaches to a bracket that attaches under two side cover bolts, and a rod from the reverse lever on the trans actuates the lever on the switch.
