Well I got the engine numbers for my '67 Convertible project. The block was milled at one point and some of the numbers are skewed (Vin/ plant code). This is what I found.
casting on block (left side):
3892657 (from what I can find this is the correct 327 block casting number for the car.)
On the other side of the block (right side, same side as casting) the numbers read:
C 944 H17 657Not sure what those mean.
Intake numbers 3919803 (the last number might be an 8 but looks more like a 3). with a GM 3 stamped under it. There is also a 1968 stamped on the top of the intake so this may be a 1968 part.
Also stamped on the intake at different places are the numbers L26 7 and there is a T under the GM 3 part.
The engine block pad is milled so I am going to try and acid etch to recover the numbers. Not sure how this will come out. Where the engine assembly location codes are it looks like it reads V I 1 I 2 6 A. The V tells me Flint MI but the rest is unknown. Like I said it is skewed but it definately looks like an I in both places. the 6 may be a 5 but looks more like a 6.
There is also a plate that was rivited to the engine that looks like the size of an army dog tag. It is on the side of the engine near the oil pan. It is also skewed but I was able to read ......number 2056540. It might read
serial number but the
serial part is skewed. I can post some pictures of these reading if you think that it will help in decoding this thing.
Any help would be appreciated.
