They were also used on Monte Carlo's in 1970. When purchasing verify year designation as well.

Same wheel, but most of the Monte Carlo rally wheels were stamped "FW".
All the 71+ Monte wheels were FW. 70 Monte wheels were YH and are often on ebay.

So how do you tell the difference between "YH" wheels for a MC and a Camaro?

The wheels are date coded and the Monte Carlo was introduced for the 1970 model year.

Wait a minute. I thought that the "AD" wheels were use up until May 69. The "YH" wheels used after that. Is this not correct? JohnZ you have info on that?

The YH wheel was a mid December introduction to fit the JL8 option as quoted from this site.

I just sold a set of 12-18 YH wheels.

John Z, what dates are on your 02D car? I have some mid to late January dates for mine. Seems like these wheels were in batches if only Z/28s used them.

AD wheels were to Dec 68.
Then the YH's came out mid Dec 68 thru the rest of the 69 model year and then the 70 model year.

1970 wheels are dated for 1970. :)

What are the chances of finding a set of AD wheels for a 10B (Oct 68)  build car?  The proverbial "needle in a haystack"? My original ones are MIA.

Jimmy -

Here's one for sale now, although it might be a tiny bit late (10-24) for your car...

I have a an 05A Z/28 (X-77) that I have owned since May of 1984.  It came to me with 5 YH coded rims and not cut up...that is, completely stock interior, all external emblems, a flat hood, manual steering, full gauges.  The 302 was blown (a CE block but all the parts were 302) and come alongside the car.  KURTS has been waiting for me to dig up the numbers on my YH rims for months...so here they are:

four (4) rims are = K19 8 4 YH (August 4th, right?)
one (1) rim is K19 2 26 YH (February 26th, correct?)

I pretty much know wher ethe car was fro msot of it's life before me.  given that it was largely unmolested and un hot rod-ed I think it unlikely that someone went out and found 5 YH ralley's for it during the 70's, but anything is possible.

What are your thoughts?

I think someone found at least 4 of them. The 4 august wheels were made 4 months after the car was built.

Thanks Paul, but unless I could get a matched set of 4 with correct date code, I might as well keep the 14x7 YJ wheels I have now. Mine were apparently swapped one for one from another car, as they are all the same June 69 mfg date. They are valuable in themselves to the right guy trying to restore a June 69 or so Camaro or Nova.

Yeah, I got that...the dates are what they are.  I still find it really odd that a car would have had 4 out of 5 rims replaced and all with the same date and code.  I know the old argument, anything can happen in 38 years but the car was only 15 years old when I bought it and had been in storage for the 4 years prior to my purchase.  It even had the original Polyglass GT tires on it.

I guess I should play the lottery or something...what are the odds that all 4 rims would be YH coded and the same date?

Probably swapped with another Z to get new tires (I just got mags and you can have the old wheels and tires for $50, just give me your rims....).
