More info:

- VIN: 124379L512979.  Anything in the database on this one?

- Engine assembly date:  1209

- Transmission asssembly code:  P9R23A

Does anybody see any problems with these numbers/dates?  Thanks in advance.    :)

I'm not real comfortable with this tag. E-mail me if you want more info.
Others will chime in.

The tag looks original to me. It's an ordinary vehicle (not an X22, X33, X77) and those are the ones that seem to come up as fakes. I've never noticed the 'V' in the first line, but I tend to look more at 68 tags.

IMO - That's a real Van Nuys tag.  Should be a 1 under that rivet to make it a 12B car. Nice color/interior combo.

Tag looks OK, IMO.
Trans looks a little early, but very possible.

Do the engine and trans have VIN stamps? Any pics of the any of the engine/trans stamps?

Yes, the engine and transmission are VIN stamped.  The transmission assembly code may not be accurate, it's based on my best guess from this photo:  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/scalia/P1010144.jpg

Here's a photo of the engine assembly code:  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/scalia/P1010122.jpg

And a photo of the partial VIN stamped on the engine pad:  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/scalia/P1010121.jpg

These are the seller's photos.  So, are the stampings original?  Thanks again...

That tag is fine. Not sure about the stampings on the trans, too hard to see. The Block stamping is questionable IMO. Would like to see the pad without paint. The VIN stamping is questionable IMO.

I can't comment on the trans.  IMO - The block stamp looks good.  The VIN ...hmm, I would lean towards questionable, also (but I haven't seen any stamps from this build period).  I, too, would like see it without all the paint and would like a better pic of the trans,  Attached is a couple of pics of my former 02A  LA built Z (man, I miss that car :'( )

I can't make a call with those pics, but they tend to look OK.

Thanks Mike, Ed (great photos!), and Kurt for your expertise and opinions.  I'd hope to inspect the vehicle myself this morning, but couldn't get away from work before the vehicle sold:

Check out the exhaust manifolds!    ???

Was there a difference between LA tags and Norwood tags?

Nice looking car & everything looks correct. The only somewhat suspicious thing is the fresh paint on the block where the engine doesn't look like its been out for quite a while.....

Yes, there is a difference Tom.  Read this for all the details:  http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#CowlTag
