Possible Yenko found in Michigan?

 I recently came across a 69 Camaro that I bought as a rolling pro street car and after deciding to sell it was informed that it was on the Yenko registy list. Is that enough to prove it is a real Yenko? If so what's it worth?  Who would I get to authenticate the car?

Try looking at www.yenko.net for the VIN on the list. The guys there should be able to help. What part of Michigan are you in? I am near Flint.

 We already found it on the Yenko registry. We also had a guy drive from three states away because he seen it for sale and inquired about the v.i.n. and he told us it was a Yenko. It's a color that the Yenkos used, it's a X44 car, and he found the holes under the dash where gauges were bolted. I was wondering if there is anybody local that could tell us any more about the car.

Not all Yenkos had the 140 speedo. Must order COPO 9737 to get the 140 speedo along with ralley wheels and larger sway bar.

Things are added and changed over 40 years so you must have a knowledgeable individual look it over.

All 69 camaro yenko's were sports car conversion cars 9737 as well as 9561(double copos). So all 69's yenko camaros had 140. In 68 most 427 converted cars were 9737 copo's as well, but not all. I believe 2-4 were not 9737copo's. Most copos ordered by other dealers were for the most part just 9561 copo's. Berger and Douglas and a few others who ordered the cars as yenko did as double copos.

I keep forgetting there were plain old COPO's as well. I just got done looking at 2 COPO's, one Yenko, one COPO and to tell you the truth I thought both had the 120 speedo's. I know both didn't have ralley's. I will go back and look at them again this week.

 This car has the 120 speedo. The car has been back halfed and all the original drive train is gone. Any speculation on what it may be worth in this shape?

I put a link to this thread ay Yenko site. Guy there says it isn't a real one.He seems to know the VIN. You may want to check it out at that site.

IMO, I would think that for a car like this, bringng it back would be for the love of it. I don't see how this could be a smart financial move.

There is a slight chance that there was a non COPO 9737 1969 Yenko Camaro sold out of Douglass Chevy.

Doughless was a Yenko Super Camaro dealer who also ordered some 427 COPO Camaros on his own and striped them with Yenko kits. It is theoretically possible that he Yenkoized a non 9737 Camaro.

So a car can be found with original paint and Yenko stripes and was a Douglas Yenko, as far as the original owner would know, he would have bought a non 9737 69 Yenko Camaro.
 It is not known if Douglass only used 9737 9561 Camaros for the cars he did.

This is a hypothetical and no reference to the car mentioned in Michigan

Nice rolller, but the #'s confirm it is not a Yenko or COPO.

The vin to the ebay car is inncorrectly listed on the Yenko inventory sheets as 124379N615016. The correct corresponding car and proper VIN are located.

Regarding Douglass Yenkos;

     While that is  certainly possible it is not probable.  Jack Douglass the Dealer Principal and Tom Dumass his General Manager confirm that thier direct order of 25 Camaros was with Both Copo 9561 and 9737 options. 24 were ordered on the same day with a black one being added the next day. More than 10 of these Douglass cars have been found and accounted for and thus far all have been Double COPOs.

      I was informed that no other COPO 9561 or 9561 and 9737 Camaros other than the inital orders were sold other than some direct order Chevelle L72s and two truck loads of Yenko Double COPOs which were ordered thru Yenko Chevrolet and sent to Douglass Chevrolet. There was also a '68 Yenko sold out of Douglass.

     Jack vividly quoted his number at 25 long before the Yenko Estate document was released to the public. He ordered 4 cars in each of the 6 traditional Yenko Colors a total of 24. It was not till the next day when they figured that since they were ordering direct, they could mix up the colors a bit and add the black one as well.
