Jimmy,

Your starter is from a 1967 Chevelle, Camaro or Nova 230 or 250 6 cylinder. The date format you show isn't right though. The first number is the year (1967), the second letter is the month (A-January through M-December) and the 15 is the day. There was no "O" month, so maybe it's a "C" (March)?

Not many 40-year-old starters have survived intact; very common replacement item. When starters go through a commercial rebuilder, they're stripped down, parts are inspected and refurbished, and go back into the rebuild cycle to be configured for a given application - rebuilders don't pay any attention to the stamped part numbers and dates, only the configuration of a given component. There were only two armature cases (the part that has the date and starter part number stamped on it), so you can't put much faith in either the part number or the date on a rebuilt starter. Many rebuilders these days are grinding off the part number and date to avoid come-backs where the purchaser brings it back and says "hey, this isn't the correct part number for my application".

If you have a correct/original starter, DON'T turn it in as a core - have it rebuilt locally.  :)
