Window glass Outer Guides:
The Factory applied anti scuff Fabric does wear out after time. By careful product selection and prep you can repair your Original GM parts vice purchasing Offshore replacements assuring proper fit and function.

As Seen the Tooling required to fabricate replacement scuff surface materials.

The KEY for this repair is Choosing a suitable - workable - durable material

For this repair I sourced:
Ballistic 1680D Nylon Fabric 60" Wide Water Repellent Coated DWR
Black.

Also I chose to send the metal guides out for Zinc plating as a surface prep with a Batch of other parts. (Optional)

169Indy, nicely done! I am in the process of the same on my 68. After looking at multiple fabric for a suitable material that would also have a similar appearance, I opted to go with the stick on material available at in line tube. They are for an A body window block/guide, so I had to use two pieces per block with a seam in the center. They look good and should work fine, but I am now tempted to start over using the material you described.
Thanks for sharing this.

I am not familiar with the "Material" you sourced. We used the material I found at Work in a Mil-Spec atmosphere (Commercially available) and found it to be superior to the OEM materials.
If it is acceptable for a Submarine, I think it would out perform the OEM stuff.

No Seam, WHY would Vendor provide a inferior product, OH, Well Cost.

You Do NOT want to depend on some Self Sticky Crap and Seam  when used on your INVESTMENT in Original glass.

Don't even get me started on the China Steel replacements, Are the Bends Accurate, Are the drilled holes properly spaced, on and on

DIY your GM parts when able!

We as a Group NEED to keep sharing Tips, Trick, Methods and Sources - This is healthy for the Hobby
