Guys. am I missing something here? Original drivetrain is great but this car has so many repop parts, missing and incorrect parts. What's the draw?

It's crazy to me also, it's a very nice looking over restored car in my opinion.  I do not follow 69's very heavily and really don't know the answer but I'm curious, were the partial VINs gang stamped near the oil filter or free hand?  The numbers to me on this one, look individually stamped.  On BAT there seems to be a herd mentality with commenters and sometimes bidders.  Shinny objects definitely attract the fish

Well, I think Jerry's fees just went up! and that price makes no sense to me in this market, maybe if it had a documented JL8 set up or if it were a Sub 20k mile survivor maybe??

These valuations do not seem reasonable, but then again, I recall a Time when a $16,000  was INSANE in the early eighty's.

Sold for $260k. There must be drugs in the rocker panels and rear frame assembly. Pulling the old Starsky and Hutch.

If you read McNeishs report alot of things needed to be corrected. The grill is a repop out of the box and put on the car.
Then the seller lists all the things he bought and most all are repop parts and he thinks that satisfies the corrections that Jerry mentioned. One in particular is the NAPA replacement water pump. It could be a nice car with some money spent on actually correcting the items.
I guess some people just like the look and dont care about the details. The engine block pad was decked so no numbers remain except for the partial VIN down by the filter. The buyer will have a hard time getting his money out of it when the time comes. You could have bought 2 really nice documented by MacNeish 69 Z28's for the price this went for. Seller did a great job with pictures and hyping up the car.

I watched this BAT auction and was also shocked at the sell price!

I attended the 2024 MCACN show in Chicago this past Saturday and it was the top discussion among the 1st Camaro circles!  The general consciences was the two bidders must have really wanted this particular 69 Z28, and the buyer will probably never get their money back on a resale.  Based on the pics I reviewed, most of the restoration mistakes can be easily corrected, but at $260K, the car should still have its original oil in the engine and ashes in the ash tray...LOL!
