Thanks Jim, yours looks about the norm of what I've seen so far, that being mirror base hides approximately 50 to 66% of gaskets CAMARO script.
Again, I never reviewed, saw, or read anything concerning a 68/69 Camaro Door Mirror Gasket with the "CAMARO" script until seeing one on a '69 at the 2022 MCACN show. That led me to want to know more about this type gasket and its use. Checking some friends survivors I discovered it used on both '68 and '69 models and that led to wanting to find a nice one for our 68. Even though I kept just about everything original to our '68 that was not used I had no memory of keeping the original mirror gasket except deciding to use a new one for restoration. Just assumed I threw it away like the original door handle gaskets replaced with NOS gaskets. Well that all changed recently while searching my hardware bins for an original pair of screws and bingo, there was my original mirror gasket. And yes, it has the CAMARO script and quickly realized why we did not use as the bottom area of gasket has its lip broke off (see picture) which I've found in originals a lot when the mirror was placed rearward within the gasket.
Note in this picture how our factory mirror placement made an impression and how 80 to 85% of CAMARO script shown originally, but the bottom area of the gasket is broken as the base of the mirror during assembly would have been placed on top of the gaskets lower lip instead of being placed within the gaskets 360 degree lip.
The '68 NOR 03D Survivor cars gasket (shown again) we reviewed a few months ago had the same issue (one of the best I've noted with entire CAMARO script shown) with the lower part of gasket broke off. Owner placed mirror in gasket to mirror the original location of mirror to gasket and see how the mirror would have been placed on top of the gaskets lip. Broken lip similar to ours.
