My first 69 was a 230 (I posted about the head casting number in the 6 cylinder forum and noticed you did also about your car) - My aunt bought it new in 1969 - VIN#545064. I totalled the car in 1988 but still have alot of old docs, including protect-o-plate but never documented the trim tag. Guess it was probably close to your November 68 car build though. I remember it had the second style plain steel oil cap, not the tall first version. Not a guarantee but doubt the oil cap had been changed by 1988, and I remember it was fairly worn meaning alot of the orange paint was either gone or it just had a plain steel finish but it definitely didn't have any marks or labels that I remember at the time I had it. I have the whole engine still except I must have lost the valve cover over the years unfortunately. Hope that helps.
Edit- I also think the tall "breather" vent cap would be used on applications without a PCV valve, which by 69 I think PCV would have been required for emissions (and then you would have a non-vented short plain oil cap) in most if not all applications. I'm pretty sure mine had a PCV valve and I can see the PCV valve in your pic near the rear of your valve cover, so wouldn't think it would be the tall "breather cap" with vent holes in the bottom side (if that's what that tall one is), but should be the short one.
