Correct Carb 69 396 325hp
« on: May 05, 2007, 09:49:32 PM »
l have a 69 ss 396 325 hp that came with a quadrajet but the original carb is not with it. Does anyone know the correct carb number and a date? My guess is 7029200 but not sure of the date. The engine build date is T0416JG. Thank you Earl

Good guess!  7029200 is the correct carburetor for the '69 Camaro 396-325 hp (L35) engine with the TH400 transmission.  The carburetor was installed at the car assembly plant, so it should be dated from about ten days to a month or two prior to the car's final assembly date.

Any carburetor with a date code in the 02C - 04A range should be satisfactory.  Everyone agree?   :)

A carburetor with a date code of 0489 to 0949 (2-17-69 to 4-4-69) should be satisfactory.  Everyone agree?

Unfortunately, there's some confusion in the various references on this carb.
The correct # 7029204 FF.
The date could even be a week closer (about 1019).

FF is the customer code, sometimes referred to as the broadcast code.

I am seeing the 7029204 was used more for the 350 hp motor.

Possibility? Which, the date or the carb #? The carb # is the correct one. I believe the L34 auto used the same carb, but I can't confirm it, yet.
The 7029200 is not the correct carb.
