Thoughts on this timing table

Playing around with new distributor and I wanted to run this timing table by the members. Seemed to be a bit sluggish and got hotter than the 180-185 it usually runs at. Got up to around 200 on light cruise.

Motor specs:

396/375 HP
840 cast closed chamber oval heads
11:1 domed pistons
Holley 780 4346
Factory spec L78
No less than 93 octane. usually 100

It's early and I think better in the afternoon or evening. What is that table?

What is your initial timing and what is your all in number?  I can't find mine right now but I think the old Sun Tuning chart had like 4 and 36-37. 

I think you might be wasting your money on 100 octane. 93 to 95 octane is usually enough unless you are getting very aggressive on the timing.

Running at 200 is not a problem. What is the actual air temperature when it runs at that temperature?

In the summer, my big block runs at 200 to 210 MOST OF THE TIME when it is above 85 F air temperature - pump gas.

So I got all squared away. I didnt save then write the new timing table to the distributor. So the table was never saved when I turned key off. I wrote 16 at the crank with 13 max VA and all in at 36 at 3000. It ran perfect and smooth. I'll do so.r more tests then read plugs. Right now.. the distributor works as advertised and is pretty slick. No more timing light or going under hood for timing.

The progression distributor is the only way to go, I would bump the initial to 18-20 and total to 38 for the street.
