Would not use Krylon.  Just does not stand up long term. If you want to do it once, buy the good stuff.

The old 5 ball Krylon is good. I'm going to assume most on this site do not do resto, fab, bodywork and custom paint and art like I do 7 days a week. Cake walk to match a color.

For my 69Z ralleys, I bought Krylon 1403 online about a year or so ago and it was hard to find then. I was really happy with the results. One thing I noticed it that the wheel codes around the valve stem were very readable. Most paints go on so thick it hides the codes, but not this paint.

I would definitely use it again and wait for it if I had to.

Not to turn the subject too far but I have a lot of success with Krylon paints in the can.  Fast drying so you can change the textures of the finish depending on the amounts of coats.  I did the entire dash on my old 67 using Krylon satin (or semi gloss I can't remember now) and then wet sanding and hitting a final top coat.  Rustoleum is good for parts you want to replicate a dipping process as it likes to puddle and run due to the slow dry times.  Just throwing out there some old dumb redneck uses when you don't fill like busting out the paint gun.

Guys,
I have no problem finding argent silver. My local Home Depot, Lowe's and Wal-Marts have plenty...in different brands, and shades of silver. Its the same situation with my Ford friends trying to find the closest 'Ford blue' engine paint. Also, a tip on some other hard to find color matches: use either Krylon (preferred) or Rustolum 'Bronze Metallic' for what is used for black metallic, with a touch of gold in it. Perfect match...from a rattle can.

Cross Boss, anybody can go to HD Lowes and Walmart and find silver paint, but none of them stock the Krylon 1403. I ordered a case of it from my local mom and pop ACE store. Other then that, it is hard to just run across.

$12 a can? ouch. I think I paid ACE hardware about 5-6 a can, but I bought a case (6).

The Krylon #1403 dull aluminum is the best out there and spot on color wise, Dave Cunningham who was a trainer at the BASF paint facility here in Jessup, MD also helped with this match and said it's much better to use the #1403 rather than pay more for mixed version.  We've been using it for years.
