1967 & 1968 Camaro Legends Judging Manual

I have received so many positive comments about the Camaro Legends Judging Manual. Lots of nice feedback on what is covered for originality, the depth of information, and the loads of high quality photos. I need to thank the owners for the cars featured - Robert Elke with his Z28's, Doug Perry - 1967 Yenko, Paul Laurenzi - 1968 Z28, Chick Renn - 1968 Z28 and Larry Christensen - 1967 Pace Car. My 68 Z28 had the most photos - great shots of the original spot welds for the body panels, original interior shots, and miscellaneous photos of original parts. Plus what we look for with restored photos - alternator, master cylinder/booster, trunk compartment. Think Paul was the only other with such great photos for originality. Can't beat the combination of photos of originality combined with what we are looking at when judging concours restored cars. Best comment - "The must have book for anyone restoring a Camaro or wanting to know what is correct"

I was thinking about getting one. How accurate and detailed is the information on the 6 cylinder cars?

No information on 6 cylinder cars at all.

Well I don’t have copy, so I can’t see what’s not there. Does anyone on this thread have a copy? I have a few questions.

I would be glad to help with any questions. We did not want to repeat readily available information, such as trim tag codes or engine codes.

Since you asked. Is it true that there is no 6 cylinder information in the manual?

The manual covers a lot of what you would look for in judging a base car - exterior, interior, underneath, suspension, rear housing, etc. For the six cylinder engine, some of what is covered would carry over such as the finish on the coil and its bracket, plating on the monojet. Specifics like the fan shroud, fan we don't cover.  If you are restoring a car or buying a restored car, then this is the resource for you. Or if you are buying a 67, it would be nice to know if it has the correct rear quarter panels, since there are three different styles. Same thing with other transition items.

So I will say this before anything else—I applaud the entire effort. If it was easy, someone else would have done it, put their own reputation and money on the line. 

You will never ever make everyone happy with the manual. Ever. Never. I don’t have one, but will get my hands on one soon.

But let’s scenario this. I (or someone else) gets their 6 cylinder qualified for Bow Tie or Bow Tie w/Legends. What information would the judges use to score the engine compartment? If it’s not in the manual, then how does it get scored fairly?

This is why I originally asked.

Is there a statement in the front of the manual about obtaining information of other engines for the next printing? If so, all anyone can do is offer up the car for inspection to get the manual to a higher level. The more inclusive the manual is, the better it is for all 1st Gen Camaro owners.

I have the 69 Manual and its great - but - I disagree on some of the details that are claimed to be "absolute".  I like the detailed pics....

Between JMN's books and these manuals, there is no way you can build one of these cars incorrectly.
