My 68 in AACA's Antique Automobile Magazine and Speedster
« on: September 12, 2022, 10:02:59 PM »
Well, it took a couple of years, but the article on my 68 as a driver is the September - October issue of Antique Automobile.  Also, I wrote an article in August on the AACA's Oral History Project for the Speedster (an email magazine) and it has my CRG avatar picture with it.  Unfortunately, you have to be an AACA member to see it, so I'm going to try and post a couple pf pictures.

During Covid's two peaks a lot of editors were desperate for articles. So, at the last two Spring Nationals in Charlotte we set up photo shoots. Mine happened to be one of them.
Doug, you mean I'm actually going to get to see you at Hershey???

From left to right, AACA Mileage Award. I've put over 1000 miles a year on that car in the last 20 years. NC Region Red Bird, equivalent to AACA Senior award. AACA Driver Participation Certification. When I first showed in AACA, I didn't want to give up my radial tires. It's a driver!

You AND your car deserve publicity. I will be in the orange field all week. Ask any DBer, they will know where I am. I can't walk like I should anymore. Besides the pizza guy is gone. Hope to see you.

Just an FYI that a year or two ago Coker released a Firestone radial tire that looks like a bias ply tire.  Not sure how the AACA community works, but if they're purists, they probably like the old bias ply tires.  The  new Firestone tires are sort of the best of both worlds (though they're quite expensive).

Yes, I know about the lookalikes, and so do most of the AACA judging teams.

Guess I could be accused of "milking" this one, but...
Early this year my 68 won an AACA NC Region's permanent award for best restored at the NC Transportation Museum.
This month it was announced it is the November car in the 2024 AACA calendar.
All the results of one photo shoot....

Seriously?? I guess now I have to buy a calendar. So what does it cost for a signature? I'll still be in the orange field. Plus, I am showing the WW1 DB military truck.
