Working on the 67/68 Legends Manual and have a question for anyone owning a survivor 1968. What is the the finish on the rear window filler and filler corner pieces? This is the metal piece below the rear window and sail panels and above the package tray. Is it a smooth egg shell finish or a textured suede finish like the top of the dash. And what is the build date of car ?  Thanks, Brad

Brad. My 1968 Z/28 still has original interior paint. I can try to get a good picture, but it would probably be a better picture in an e-mail. If you want to pm your e-mail, I'll see what I can do. It's a Los Angeles car.....Joe

Best photos I have on my phone.  Interestingly enough the speaker openings were also blacked out.  And yes I am certain this is original paint.  I can get better photos tonight and I can also get photos from a 03D NOR original car as well.

Darrell, there's a distinct line where the rear panels covered. What's caused that in your opinion? Under the panel would more likely represent originality?

I've heard folks claim it was suede, but from my recollection, it was eggshell on my 11A NOR....It's been "restored" now, so don't rely on my hazy memory.  :-\

Cook DW - What is the finish? Suede or smooth. We are seeing conflicting reports with some saying suede and others eggshell smooth. Also - what about the bolts for the corners ? Painted or left bright ? thanks for all the help

Honestly after looking at both cars you can see how there would be an opinion on both sides of the isle.  My personal opinion it falls under the prep, temperature etc when painting a surface.  On the 03D L78 you can see variations across the shelf ledge.  As for the screws they are painted on both cars.  Here are better photos from last night.

For comparison the dash from the 12D LOS car.  Hopefully some of this info will help in your research. I will try to get a good photo of the 03D NOR car's dash later today for comparison on that car.  Here is a question as I don't recall off the top of my head.

Side question:  I don't recall reading when the package tray was sprayed.  Would it be wrong in assuming that big block cars (tail pan) would have been sprayed at the same time or location on the line?

I don't have a good reason as to why there is a distinct line.

Agree with reply #5.
Mine is for certain smooth.
That being said, very little in the suede finish on the dash. Never even noticed until reading on this site. Then it was like oh yea,now I see it,,,trace. 04d Norwood car.

I took some pictures of my 02E Los Angeles car finished 3/13/1968. None of the interior has ever been repainted. There is no texture to it & it looks to be the same front & rear. Hard to see the front area because of the flash but here's what I have...Joe

Last photos I’ll share as I’m sure folks are getting sick of seeing the cars.

Great detail photos Joe.
