Late 68 model year changes
« on: March 17, 2022, 01:02:54 AM »
trying to find any other late 68 model year changes which may have occurred as assembly was getting ready for the 1969 model. Only items that come to mind are the change in front spoiler being bolted to the front valence vs. using the braces and the hood adjustment hole. Anything else come to mind? thanks, Brad

Inside of the console lid being flocked sometime in the late model year. Don't know if it's ever been determined what time frame.

Hood adjustment hole? Haven't heard of that one...

Aren't the  (from 68 vs 69)
a) Spoiler studs changed, 68 Lacks flange changed to flanged 69
b)Disc Brakes Calipers & associated, 4 piston upgraded (?) to single piston
c) Power Booster Markings (DELCO STAMP) Lack of in 68 and applied in 69
d) Voltage regulator mounting method, 68 insulator well nut and ground wire changed to solid screws in 69

not sure if these thoughts are helpful?

Thanks for the help. Appreciate the help regarding the console flocking. My 07C car has 4 piston disc brakes so if there was a change to single piston, it must have been very late. Will check my master cylinder for the other items. My car mostly original.

Brad, friends original 07D NOR 68Z original paint survivor (pictures of car on CRG survivors) clearly shows the screws attaching and not bolted. Spoiler broken off but I personally verified and documented screw locations that held spoiler. There were later cars built but if it changed during 68 model run it had to be short lived. His radiator support has dimples as noted on 69's. I've noted a few hardware differences also. And yes his car has the hood adj. hole.

Yes, topic here recently. Friends 07D flocked, and recently a friend while in FL showed his 04C 68 is not which coincides with several other earlier 68 Cars.

07D L30/M20- Has an intake manifold correct for a '69 L48 (the casting date is about a month earlier then the car). Flocked console and 4 piston calipers. RonM

So you have a 184 intake that has been bored for the oil fill tube?

I couldn't remember the number so I took a peek under the air cleaner and the 184 is what I have. I asked this question years ago and mine isn't the only car with this intake on a late '68. The boss for the tube is there, all they had to do was drill it out to make it work. RonM

There are pictures on my car on this site, if you want to see the oil tube in the 184 manifold. Look for the thread (New Glass) by jeff g. RonM

Thanks for posting the link. One of these days I'll move into the 21st century and figure all this stuff out. RonM
