Trim Tag
« on: April 16, 2007, 03:06:18 PM »
I recently picked up a 69 X33D80 Z28. Its an old race car and the trim tag has a thick coating of gloss paint on it. Whats the best way to clean it off to expose the numbers without damaging the tag? I've tried a scotch bright pad with little success. I don't really want to use sand paper. Will laquer thinner do any damage? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Lacquer thinner and a toothbrush should work OK - don't use any kind of abrasive or push down hard on it or the tag will be damaged; it's pretty delicate.

Just go to a body shop and get some paint stripper. Brake fluid works also.
