Remember, the rear bumper guards were standard, however the front's were optional. The car may not have been equipped with them, which is why there is no evidence of them. The car certainly may have had front end work done at some time though that could have eliminated them.

Thanks Scott for the pictures of the 1968 Z28 pace car at Watkins Glen.It could be the same Camaro but the one I am helping with doesn't have frt.and rear bumper guards.Maybe they were removed.They are trying to find earlier pictures of the car. Thanks Mitchell

Hi Mitchell,

Thanks for posting those great color photos!  What a cool find from the museum.  I love the picture that was taken above the car from the flag stand.  I would bet they were both taken at the same time prior to the start of the pace lap.  You can see the shadow from the flagstand on the racetrack directly behind the Z28 in all 3 pictures.  Since the car in these pictures does have the front bumper guards it sure looks like it could be the car that was in front of the Trans Am cars in the pictures I posted.
