So, I bet him a thousand dollars that it was a restamp.
Go collect your thousand dollars because (in my opinion) it's a restamp. Look at the broach marks. They're not parallel to each other (see below). The numbers are also spaced too far apart from each other as compared to other stamps in this same time frame.
Not only that, but a few quick things I noticed is that the car has 69 "bent" head rest seats, cheap $100 generic leaf springs, incorrect exhaust, missing the bell housing inspection plate, silver (?) brake booster, aftermarket shifter and missing the upper molding on the fold down rear seat (also see below). I also believe the axle is a restamp.
I'd like to see a better picture of the transmission suffix & partial VIN, the date code of the block and the date code on the center section of the axle. A better picture of the wheel date codes would also be nice, but to be honest, in my opinion he's asking almost $98k for a $35-$40k car.
