Carpet just laid up against the (dash mat) firewall pad.

Hi,
Oh my, I did this in conjunction with new heater core in my 67 convertible. That's a story for another day.
Anyway, repro carpet looks terrible as no binding as it runs up firewall plus my research seemed to show carpet tucks under firewall pad. It was tough to do but sure looks much more finished as Chevrolet would do.
So folks, what's the real answer?
Thanks,
Brian

My 67 LOS has the original carpet tucked under the firewall pad.

The fifties Chevrolet cars that I work on also got the carpet tucked under the lower edge of the firewall pad; For fifties cars, the firewall pad had/has about a 1" wide rubber edge attached to it and this part covers the top of the carpet in that area.   It's been so long since I worked on that area of my camaro, I can't recall how it was/is done...?

Here is a past thread showing the original carpet tucked under the firewall pad on my 67 LOS coupe (the replacement pad in the thread was for my 67 NOR convertible).
