I asked for the VIN and will post it if I get it.

Yes, that’s why fake tags errors are not openly discussed. The fakes get improved every few years.

That’s why at least for me a car has to stand up to what it is supposed to be. Tag is not the whole story. If the original drivetrain is gone, it’s just another Camaro.

Well someone totally borked this one.

N580705 was final-assembled on or about January 17, 1969. Would not have an 09E tag.

The VIN tag has also been off the car.

So it's not possible for an mid Jan build date VIN to have a 5th week Sept 68 body tag? With these dates, that would suggest 15 or 16 weeks between the two dates. Would Fisher have a body sitting around for 4 months?

The repro tag depicts September '69.

Tag was punched when Fisher released the production order. The date is only a general indicator of final assembly date. Most Gibb ZL-1 Camaros have 02D body tag dates, cars were built 1st two weeks of March. None of them were built in February.

Ah I thought production cowl dates were 08 of previous year to june/july of the model year IE - 08/68 to 07/69. But in the case of 69s they ran the 69 body style into early 1970.

Trying to keep my head above water and learn to spot fakes so I don't make a purchasing error in the future.

In the case of the Gibb cars that's 3 or 4 weeks, but something off by 4+ months seems like a very long time.
